Takoma Ranch!
Lots of big things happened in 2015. My dear father passed away of cancer in March of 2015, I got married in August, and we bought a house in October. It's been a year of big transitions. All year Matt and I kept our eye out for a special, affordable property in Takoma, DC, preferably walking distance to the metro and to Old Town Takoma Park. It just so happened a bank owned property popped up in late August 2015 - a brick Raised Ranch built in 1961. There were 5 offers on the property, and, underpriced at 429k, we absolutely had to offer well over asking. We got the house under contract for $452k - the DAY we left for our honeymoon in Croatia. What a stress! But an awesome stress, particularly when the appraisal came back and we found out the property is worth $470k!
The Takoma Ranch is just the property I had always dreamed of. Four blocks to the metro, shops, and restaurants in Takoma DC, It's a single family house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms - plenty of space to grow into. On top of being over 2400 square feet inside, it's got nearly a fifth of an acre of flat land - lots of parking in the back and a big yard in front. What really sealed the deal for us is that there's over 1,000 square feet for creative space in the basement. Around 400 square feet for Matt's wood working shop in the garage and then 600 square feet with high enough ceilings to build a stage, install lighting, and a sound system. So yes...come next Fall you can expect we'll begin having concerts at The Ranch!
